Taipei, Nov. 21 (CNA) An Army battalion has recently completed a 400-kilometer loaded march over 19 days in mountainous areas of southern Taiwan as part of the required training of Army Aviation and Special Forces Command forces, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) said Wednesday.

The second battalion of the Army Aviation and Special Forces Command departed from its Chiayi base on Oct. 29 for the march, the MND said in a statement.

The nearly 300 members of the battalion, including 16 females, carried a 30-kilogram load during the 19-day trek that would take them through mountainous areas in Chiayi County and Tainan and Kaohsiung cities, the statement said.

The battalion conducted a series of exercises during the journey, including joint special forces exercises and a drill to test the troop's emergency rescue and logistical preparedness, the MND said.

The troops completed their journey on Nov. 16, and each of the battalion's members were given a "mountain" badge on their shoulders to honor them for completing the training mission, it said.
