Xiamen, China, June 20 (CNA) Postcards and notebooks featuring hand-drawn pictures of Taiwan have been selling like hot cakes since last week at a fair in Fujian Province, where the annual Straits Forum is being held.
Postcards bearing the words "The DNA of Taiwan" and sketches of 10 indigenous plant and animal species have sold out, said Lin Yu-ting, a representative from the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) unit that produced the postcards.
Chinese shoppers prefer designer stationery with touches of handmade craftsmanship, Lin said.
Notebooks with signature Taiwanese images, by designer Lin Ching-sung, have also sold out.
Other products at the fair include Taiwanese gift sets, snacks and creative and cultural items, most of which were designed by NTNU's arts departments.
Glass works, designer cups, and products featuring patterns that represent Chinese surnames are also popular at the fair.
The Straits Forum, first held in 2009, is aimed at promoting exchanges among the general public and enhancing cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.
This year's event is being held June 16-22 in Xiamen City.
