Taipei, April 24 (CNA) Air France canceled its Monday flight from Paris to Taipei and the return flight because of a strike action by its employees, a company executive said Tuesday.

Johnson Wan (溫爾功), Air France-KLM Group's country manager for Taiwan, said he was aware of the strike two days ago, and passengers were informed of the cancellation in advance and helped with reservations on other airlines.

The cancellation came only a week after the French carrier restarted flights on the Taipei-Paris route after a 20-year hiatus.

The carrier operates three nonstop round-trip flights per week between Charles de Gaulle Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport under a codeshare agreement with China Airlines, one of Taiwan's major carriers.

Asked at a ceremony to launch the new route on April 17 in Taipei if he was worried about possible strikes affecting the renewed flight service, Antoine Pussiau, Air France-KLM's senior vice president for Asia Pacific, said that while labor-management disputes have existed for a long time, he was confident in the Taipei route.
