All 24 KMT legislators survive recall votes, opposition retains legislative majority

Twenty-four opposition Kuomintang (KMT) lawmakers were up for recall Saturday, but they all survived, allowing them and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) legislators to retain a combined majority in Taiwan’s Legislature. While the KMT "thanked" Taiwanese voters for their choice, recall campaigners claimed China’s long-term infiltration affected the result and the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), which backed the recall campaign, said it “humbly accepted” the outcome. Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an also survived a recall vote held on the same day.
