Fighting to keep the memories of 'comfort women' alive

On August 14, 32 years after the first public testimony, people gathered in Taipei to remember the plight of "comfort women," a euphemistic term to describe the estimated 200,000 victims of the Japanese-run system of sexual slavery before and during World War II. Despite the death of the last Taiwanese survivor earlier this year, Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation is still doing all it can to make sure what the women went through is written into Taiwan's history books and that their memory will never be forgotten.
