Seeing Taiwan through art

Do you enjoy seeing beautiful places in Taiwan? But have you seen the island through art? If not, the Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines in Taipei, across the street from the National Palace Museum, is definitely worth a visit. Better known for its impressive collection of indigenous tribal artifacts, the museum also has a large collection of Taiwanese paintings, which are rarely shown to the public. Starting this year, the paintings will be displayed in a series of exhibitions that will last for five years. The first exhibition in the series - “2018 Opening A Window Onto Taiwan’s Art History” – will run from June 9 to September 9.
