New Taipei opens cat-friendly space to promote pet care, adoption

A cat-friendly space was opened on Monday at the Banqiao public animal shelter, where prospective adopters and cat owners can learn about feline care and interact with shelter cats that are comfortable around people. The "Happy Cat Home" in New Taipei features a mock home designed around cats' needs, with officials hoping the new facility will encourage more people to adopt as cat ownership across Taiwan continues to rise.
