Taipei, July 17 (CNA) Taiwanese tennis player Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇) claimed her fourth Wimbledon women's doubles title after she and her partner from the Czech Republic, Barbora Strycova, defeated third seeds Storm Hunter of Australia and Elise Mertens of Belgium in London on Sunday.

In the nearly two-hour-long match, Hsieh and Strycova faced an uphill challenge from the start after losing the first two games. However, the pair gained momentum and came back to take the first set 7-5.

The Taiwanese-Czech duo then went on to win the second set 6-4, becoming Wimbledon women's doubles champions for the second time together.

Hsieh has triumphed in the category three other times at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament, lifting the trophy in 2013, 2019 and 2021 with Peng Shuai (彭帥) of China, Strycova and Mertens respectively.

The victory also marks Hsieh's second straight Grand Slam title, after she won the French Open women's doubles championship in June along with Wang Xinyu (王欣瑜) of China.

Hsieh faced a setback in her tennis journey for about 18 months following an injury sustained during the women's singles competition at the Courmayeur tournament in Italy in October 2021.

She made her comeback in 2023, debuting in the women's doubles event with Strycova at the Madrid Open on April 29, where they reached the quarterfinal stage.
