Mostly dry weather to give way to showers Thursday: CWA

Taipei, Sept. 27 (CNA) Most of Taiwan will see cloudy to sunny skies through Wednesday before strengthening seasonal northeasterly winds bring rain to northern and eastern Taiwan starting Thursday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Sunday.

CWA forecaster Liu Pei-teng (劉沛滕) told CNA that conditions will range from cloudy to sunny from Monday through Wednesday, with afternoon showers possible in mountainous areas.

Temperatures will remain largely unchanged during that period, with daytime highs ranging from 32-35 degrees Celsius and potentially reaching 36 degrees in Taipei and inland areas of western Taiwan, Liu said.

Nighttime lows will range from 23-26 degrees across the island, according to CWA data.

From Thursday through next Tuesday, stronger northeasterly winds will bring localized showers in areas north of Taoyuan and eastern Taiwan, as well as afternoon showers in southern Taiwan and mountainous areas, Liu said.

Daytime highs will dip slightly to 30-31 degrees in areas north of Taoyuan and eastern Taiwan, while remaining around 34-35 degrees elsewhere, he said.

Nighttime temperatures will also fall to around 22-24 degrees across Taiwan, Liu forecast.
