Taipei, Jan. 31 (CNA) The Pingtung Bureau of Fire and Emergency Services said Friday it was still searching for a Thai national who fell into a river near Gaoping Bridge in southern Taiwan two days ago.
A report was received from the Kaohsiung emergency service at 3:27 p.m. on Wednesday that a 45-year-old migrant worker from Thailand had accidentally fallen into the Gaoping River and was missing, the Pingtung bureau said in a statement.
The bureau said he was with a friend at the time of the incident and that the pair had started walking along the river from Kaohsiung earlier in the day to go fishing.
Over two dozen rescue workers using surveillance drones and dingy boats were immediately deployed to carry out a search and rescue mission, the bureau said.
The Gaoping River flows through Pingtung County and Kaohsiung City.
