Taipei, Dec. 7 (CNA) Rime ice formed for a second day on Yushan Thursday, as temperatures on the 3,955-meter peak, also known as Jade Mountain, dipped below minus 8 degrees, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

The CWA said the day's low of minus 8.2 degrees was recorded at its Yushan Weather Station, located 3,850 meters above sea level, at 6:13 a.m.

According to the CWA, rime ice -- needle-like formations of frozen fog -- appeared on the peak due to a mix of low temperatures and relatively high humidity.
