Taipei, Nov. 29 (CNA) The ticket reservation service for Taiwan's High Speed Rail (HSR) service over the New Year's Day holiday period will start at midnight on Dec. 1, the bullet train operator said Wednesday.
Passengers will be able to book tickets in advance for Dec. 29-Jan. 2 from midnight on Friday, Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. (THSRC) said in a news release.
In addition, 105 train services, including 49 southbound and 56 northbound, will be added to the 740 scheduled journeys to meet increased demand, the company said.

Some of the extra trains will run between Nangang and Taichung every hour during specific time frames; southbound between 3 p.m.-8 p.m. on Dec. 29 and 1 p.m.-7 p.m. on Jan. 1, and northbound between noon and 9 p.m. on Jan. 1., THSRC said.
The company added that it will also add two later southbound services on Dec. 29 and three more northbound services on Jan. 1.
