Free watermelons are offered to participants of the Dajia Mazu pilgrimage, as the procession of the sea goddess arrives in Singang Township, Chiayi County Monday. The annual nine-day pilgrimage from Taichung to the Hsin Kang Feng Tian Temple in Chiayi and back involves visits to over 180 temples, and free food and drinks are prepared by the locals for the participants along the way.
