Taipei, Nov. 22 (CNA) The 62nd Golden Horse Awards will kick off at the Taipei Music Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday, celebrating achievements in filmmaking in the Chinese-speaking world.

The ceremony features no host, with the spotlight on renowned entertainers who will present several major awards.

Japanese actor Hidetoshi Nishijima is set to present the Best Actor award with his on-screen wife, Taiwanese actress Gwei Lun-mei (桂綸鎂), in the upcoming English-language drama "Dear Stranger."

Nishijima was originally scheduled to present the award with Japan's pioneering game maker and cinephile Hideo Kojima, who is unable to attend after contracting influenza.

Several actresses who have won the award in past editions will also take the stage as presenters.

"A Foggy Tale" (大濛) leads the pack this year with 11 nominations, followed by "Left-Handed Girl" (左撇子女孩), a film by Taiwanese director Tsou Shih-ching (鄒時擎) and co-written by Oscar-winning director Sean Baker, with eight nominations.

Taiwanese film "Family Matters" (我家的事) and Malaysian film "Mother Bhumi" (地母) are both nominated for eight awards each.

The 2025 Golden Horse Awards can be watched on TTV's broadcast channel and streamed over the internet on Line Today.
