Taipei, Oct. 18 (CNA) Dramas are in the spotlight on the second night of the Golden Bell Awards, often described as Taiwan's answer to the Emmys.

Golden Bell winner Bowie Tsang (曾寶儀) is the host for Saturday's proceedings at the Taipei Music Center.

"Black Tide Island" (星空下的黑潮島嶼), a period drama following the lives of political prisoners in 1950s Taiwan, leads the nominations at the 60th edition of the awards with 16 nods.

Tied for second with 15 nominations are "Born for the Spotlight" (影后), an exposition on struggles of fame facing six new actress, and "The Outlaw Doctor" (化外之醫), which tells the story of a Vietnamese doctor treating undocumented workers in Taiwan.

Three actresses from "Born for the Spotlight" -- Cheryl Yang (楊謹華), Suri Lin (林廷憶) and Hsieh Ying-xuan (謝盈萱) --  have been nominated for Best Leading Actress in a Television Series.

Other nominees include Alice Ko (柯佳嬿) for "I Am Married … But!" (童話故事下集), and Ning Chang (張鈞甯) for "The Outlaw Doctor."

The event can be streamed live on the Golden Bell Awards' official website and YouTube, as well as on the Ministry of Culture's Facebook page.
