Taipei, Aug. 4 (CNA) Nymphia Wind, the first Taiwanese winner of the acclaimed reality show RuPaul's Drag Race, made a dazzling appearance at the Amsterdam Canal Pride Parade on Saturday, Taiwan's Representative Office in the Netherlands said Monday.
Dressed in a show-stopping outfit inspired by a wedding bouquet, Nymphia stood aboard the Asian Pride Boat under the theme "We Do," drawing cheers from spectators lining the canals, according to images released by the office.
The boat was decorated with heart-shaped balloons featuring messages celebrating Taiwan's leadership in LGBTQ+ rights.
Her participation was part of a joint initiative by Taiwan's Representative Office in the Netherlands, the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris, and Asian Pride Amsterdam to highlight Taiwan's commitment to marriage equality and inclusive values.
The canal parade, a flagship event of Amsterdam Pride, was broadcast live by Dutch national broadcaster Avrotros, bringing Taiwan's vibrant LGBTQ+ presence to audiences across the country.
Taiwan's representative to the Netherlands, Tien Chung-kwang (田中光), said Taiwan's progress on marriage equality is the result of years of effort by both government and civil society, and he praised Nymphia Wind as a symbol of the nation's freedom, creativity and resilience.
