Taipei, Jan. 17 (CNA) Taiwan's Li You-ru (李又汝) has bagged the best actress award at the 25th Asian Television Awards for a role in the popular three-part drama "The Rootless" produced by Formosa Television (FTV).
"Is it really me?" asked Li when she first heard about the award presented Saturday in an online ceremony due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Li, who plays a Taiwanese woman involved with a married Vietnamese fisherman working illegally in the country in "The Rootless," thanked the production team and her fellow actors Huang Deng-hui (黃鐙輝) and Sun Zhan (孫綻).
Huang and Sun were nominated in the best actor and best supporting categories, respectively, but did not win.
The 31-year-old actress, who started her TV career on the variety show "Blackie's Teenage Club," said she is still new to acting and hopes she can have more opportunities on other projects in the future.
Other nominees in Li's categories include two veteran actresses from Taiwan, Chen Meifen (陳美鳳) and Cheryl Yang (楊謹華), both for shows that appear on FTV.
