President promises regular coastguard patrols to protect fishermen

Taiwan's Coast Guard will conduct routine patrols to protect the country's fishermen, President Ma Ying-jeou said Wednesday, vowing to prevent any recurrence of a May 9 incident in which a local fisherman was shot dead by Philippines maritime patrol personnel.
