Taipei, Aug. 11 (CNA) Smartphone maker HTC Corp. declined Saturday to confirm reports that it is planning to launch a new smartphone in September or October.
The Taiwanese company, which is facing fierce competition from foreign rivals, said it will continue to focus on branding, as long-term commitment is required to produce a good brand.
HTC also said it wished to express appreciation for the support and encouragement it has received from the public.
Stuff, a U.K.-based technology news website, reported Aug. 8 that a new HTC smartphone dubbed "Endeavour C2" was due to hit store shelves on or before Oct. 1.
The phone is equipped with a 1.7GHz quad-core processor and an improved battery, has a new color and is bundled with IBeats earphones, the site reported.
The upgraded software will include HTC Watch 2, the latest version of the company's video-on-demand platform, and ClearVoice for improved call quality, Stuff reported.
A similar report was also posted on HTCPedia, an online community of HTC users.
