Taipei, Jan. 2 (CNA) Taiwanese tennis player Chan Yung-jan (詹詠然) and her new partner Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic won their first match in the women's doubles at the 2018 Brisbane International, destroying the pairing of Netherland's Michaella Krajicek and Russia's Alla Kudryavtseva 6-3, 6-0 on Tuesday.

In 2017, Chan and Swiss tennis legend Martina Hingis who was Chan's doubles partner for most of the year, won nine of the 15 events they entered.

Following Hingis's recent retirement Chan partnered with Hlavackova, who is now at the fifth place of the WTA women's doubles ranking.

Chan Yung-jan's sister Chan Hao-ching (詹皓晴) wasn't so lucky as her partnership with Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik failed to pass the test posed by Nadiia Kichenok of Ukraine and Anastasia Rodionova of Australia, as they lost 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-10.

The 2018 Brisbane International is held from Dec. 31 to Jan. 7 at the Queensland Tennis Center in Brisbane.
