Taipei, June 21 (CNA) Olympic gold medalist Lin Yu-ting (林郁婷) had to settle for silver at the 2026 World Boxing Cup stop in Guiyang, China, after losing to Kazakhstan's Viktoriya Grafeyeva in the women's 60-kilogram final Sunday.

Winning the opening round on all five judges' scorecards, Lin continued to hold her own as Grafeyeva increased the pressure in the second.

However, a hard hit to the head sent Lin to the canvas in the final round, helping Grafeyeva secure a 3-2 split decision.

Lin's coach Tseng Tzu-chiang (曾自強) said her move from the women's 57 kg (featherweight) division to the 60 kg (lightweight) division was one factor behind the loss.

The heavier weight class tested Lin's stamina, Tseng said, adding that she appeared not to have fully recovered from her semifinal against Chinese former world champion Yang Chengyu (楊成宇) on Saturday.

The match was Lin's first appearance in a World Boxing Cup final since moving up to the 60 kg division following her gold-medal triumph at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

After taking a 19-month break from international competition amid uncertainty surrounding World Boxing's new sex-testing regulations, Lin returned to action earlier this year.

The tournament in Guiyang was only her second international event in the new weight class, following the Asian Boxing Championships in April, where she won bronze.

The Guiyang round of the World Boxing Cup took place from June 15-21 and featured 333 boxers from 44 countries and territories, according to organizers.
