Taipei, June 13 (CNA) The Taichung District Prosecutors Office on Friday indicted a former Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) official on charges of rape, forcible indecency and abuse of power.
Lee Chien-yu (李健育), former head of the EPA Inspectorate's Inspection Team, was indicted on 10 charges: One count of rape, six counts of forcible indecency and three counts of abuse of authority to commit indecency against four women between 2022 and 2023, the Taichung District Prosecutors Office said in a news release.
Prosecutors also asked that Lee, who has been held since April 22, remain incommunicado, citing a flight risk, potential collusion and the likelihood of repeat offenses.
They also recommended a heavy sentence for Lee, saying he abused his position of authority to satisfy personal desires, caused lasting harm to the victims and undermined public trust.
