Taipei, July 19 (CNA) China's ongoing live-fire military exercise in the East China Sea is actually targeting the peripheral areas of the Diaoyutai Islands, which are covered by the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty, a security expert in Taiwan with knowledge of the matter said Thursday.
