Taipei, April 3 (CNA) Japanese actor-singer Takuya Kimura on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the people of Taiwan for their heartfelt support every time Japan is hit by a natural disaster.
Kimura, who is visiting Taiwan for the first time in seven years for a brand-promoting event, said at a press conference that he is deeply grateful to the people of Taiwan for always going out of their way to help his country.
The Japanese celebrity touched down at Taipei Songshan Airport on Wednesday, and was received by more than 400 fans who waited eagerly to get a glimpse of their idol.

During the press event, Kimura said he would like to visit Taiwan again and hinted at the possibility of filming a YouTube video for his channel about his current visit in the country.
"I just joined YouTube and hope to use this platform to interact closely with fans," he said, asking that they "stay tuned" for his updates.
He also mentioned his appreciation for Taiwanese pineapple cakes and said he looks forward to trying other local delicacies.
Kimura was a popular member of the Japanese boy band SMAP and has also acted in several television series and films.
