Shanghai-born aspiring Taiwan legislator caught in bureaucratic morass

China-born individuals are required to renounce their Chinese citizenship if elected to public office, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) said Monday, which would make it nearly impossible for Shanghai-born Xu Chunying (徐春鶯) to serve as a legislator if elected.
