Taipei, Feb. 4 (CNA) Tigerair Taiwan said Wednesday it will launch a new Taichung-Okinawa route on March 30, with two flights per week in the initial phase.
The budget carrier said the service will make it the only Taiwan-based airline offering direct flights to the Japanese islands from Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung.
According to the airline, flight IT792 will depart Taichung at 7:10 a.m. every Monday and Friday, arriving in Okinawa at 9:40 a.m. Return flight IT793 will depart Okinawa at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, landing in Taichung at 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.
Tigerair Taiwan also said its chairwoman, Huang Shih-hui (黃世惠), traveled to Singapore on Wednesday to attend the Singapore Airshow, where the airline is set to sign an agreement with Airbus covering four aircraft purchases and four purchase options.
The airline said its fleet introduction plan aims to expand its next-generation fleet to 30 aircraft by 2033, improving fuel efficiency and supporting its carbon-reduction goals.
