Calling for peace among religions
While people in the Philippines were eagerly anticipating the arrival of Pope Francis on his first visit to the Philippines in mid-January, the arrival of Taiwan-based Buddhist monk Hsing Yun also received some loud cheers. Hsing Yun is the spiritual advisor of Fo Guang Shan, one of Taiwan’s biggest Buddhist organizations. He visited the Philippines to participate in a multi-faith discussion among leaders of various religions, including the pope.
