Manila, Aug. 2 (CNA) A delegation composed of police officers from the Philippines visited Taiwan on Thursday, seeking collaboration on fighting transnational crime.

The 12-member delegation led by Rodrigo Duterte, vice mayor of Davao City, is scheduled to visit the Criminal Investigation Bureau and local police departments.

During the three-day visit, the delegation will also learn about Taiwan's criminal investigation and forensic technology.

Duterte, who has been nicknamed "The Punisher" by Time magazine, has been criticized by human rights groups and by Amnesty International for tolerating extrajudicial killings of corrupt officials and criminals.

Under Duterte's leadership, the city has became one of the most peaceful and stable regions in the northern Philippines.

The current mayor of Davao City is Duterte's daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio.
