Cold front to send mercury below 10°C Thursday to Saturday in northern Taiwan: CWA
Taipei, Jan. 1 (CNA) Temperatures in parts of northern Taiwan are forecast to drop to lows of 10 degrees Celsius for the rest of the week, with the arrival of a strong continental cold air mass on Thursday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Keelung, and Hsinchu County could experience sustained temperatures of 10 degrees or lower from Thursday afternoon through Friday night, the CWA said.
Meanwhile, independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) said the mercury may drop below 7 degrees early in the morning in some low-lying areas over the next three days.
Northern and eastern Taiwan can also expect rain on Friday, while the central and southern regions will remain dry but cold, he said.
The rain is forecast to ease over the weekend, with the weather across Taiwan turning drier, but the cold temperatures will prevail throughout the country, according to Wu.
