Taipei, Sept. 4 (CNA) An electrical malfunction in the Taoyuan Airport MRT disrupted its traffic for three minutes, delaying 19 trains and affecting around 2,000 passengers on Thursday morning, according to Taoyuan Metro Corp.

In a statement, the company said that the railway's system tripped the circuit as an automatic protection mechanism at 11:23 a.m. due to the malfunction, after which the control center immediately confirmed the point of malfunction and isolated it according to standard operation procedures.

After the system was deemed safe, the railway restored operations at 11:26 a.m.

The corporation said it has gradually adjusted train intervals and will further inspect the cause of the malfunction after operations are finished for the day.

It apologized for any inconvenience inflicted on travelers and informed them that a proof for train delay can be obtained at stations (except for Xingnan Station, which is unattended) or on its official website.
