Taipei, Feb. 16 (CNA) Temperatures in northern Taiwan dropped by around 8 degrees Celsius on Sunday compared to the day before as a cold air mass arrived, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
The CWA said highs in the northern parts of Taiwan and also Yilan County ranged around 18 to 20 degrees, an approximately 8-degree drop compared to Saturday.
The administration attributed the cooler temperature to an arriving cold air mass from the north, warning that Taiwan will experience significant day-night temperature differences on Sunday.
Meanwhile, temperatures in other areas such as the central and southern parts of the country, as well as Hualien and Taitung counties, will remain relatively warm between 21 and 26 degrees.

Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) warned of progressive cooler temperatures later in the day and into the night.
He said that day-night temperature differences will continue throughout Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday, there is a high chance that the air mass will reach the levels of a continental cold air mass, meaning temperatures could dip further in some low-lying areas to below 10 degrees, Wu said.
Temperatures will start to climb back up after the cold air mass weakens between Wednesday and Thursday, before another one is expected to arrive in Taiwan by Friday, Wu added, citing the latest European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model.
