Taipei, Feb. 11 (CNA) Rain will increase across Taiwan from the Lantern Festival on Wednesday as moisture moves in from the south, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) forecast Tuesday.
Skies will remain mostly dry during the day on Wednesday, but by evening, increasing moisture will bring scattered showers to southern Taiwan before spreading northward, forecasters said.
Lows could drop below 10 degrees Celsius in areas from Hsinchu to Tainan, while northern and northeastern parts of the country will see minimum temperatures between 11-14 degrees, the CWA said.
However, daytime highs will rise significantly, reaching 24-25 degrees in western Taiwan and 21-22 degrees in the east.
Two cold fronts are expected later this week, bringing wet and cold conditions from Wednesday to Thursday, followed by dry and cold weather from Sunday to Monday.
During these periods, lows could dip to 12-14 degrees in northern and eastern Taiwan, 14-17 degrees in central Taiwan, and 15-18 degrees in the south, according to CWA data.
