
Taipei, Feb. 4 (CNA) A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck Yilan County, northeastern Taiwan, at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
The epicenter of the temblor was located 34.0 kilometers south of Yilan County Hall, in Nan'ao township, at a depth of 59.9 km, CWA data showed.
The intensity of the quake, gauging the actual effect of a seismic event, was highest in Yilan and Hualien County in the east, where it measured 3 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale, the data indicated.
The quake also measured an intensity of 2 in Nantou County and Taichung City in central Taiwan and Hsinchu County in the northern part of the country, according to the CWA.
There were no immediate reports of damage following the quake.
