Taipei, Nov. 15 (CNA) Former President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) on Saturday called for the people on Taiwan to put aside partisan differences and unite and work together to build a better Taiwan.

Tsai made the comment on her Facebook page after returning from a week-long trip to Germany, where she attended the Berlin Freedom Conference, an event commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and promoting freedom and democracy worldwide.

In the post, Tsai thanked Taiwan's frontline diplomats, members of the media, and others for helping raise Taiwan's visibility on the global stage and strengthening its ties with Europe.

"Taiwan, like other democracies around the world, is facing unprecedented challenges," she said, adding that only by staying united can Taiwan safeguard its democratic development and economic prosperity.

The former president said she will always be there for Taiwan if needed, and urged everyone to come together and work toward its betterment and contribute to the world.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said that during her trip to Germany, Tsai was also invited to attend a screening of "Zero Day Attacks" (零日攻擊) during the Berlin conference's Berlin Freedom Week.

"Zero Day Attacks" is a 2025 Taiwanese speculative television series set against the fictional scenario of a People's Liberation Army invasion of Taiwan.

Tsai also met with representatives from several local think tanks and visited the Berlin office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), MOFA said in the statement.

While there, she held in-depth discussions with the team behind the Germany-funded "Taiwan as a Pioneer" research project, aimed at promoting structural strengthening and networking of Taiwan research in Sinology, MOFA said.
