Taipei, Dec. 19 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) on Thursday told the new Honduran Ambassador that her government will continue to encourage Taiwanese businesses to invest in the Central American nation so as to create mutually beneficial developments for both countries.

Tsai, who accepted the credentials of the new ambassador of Honduras to Taiwan Eny Yamileth Bautista Guevara at the Presidential Office, said she looks forward to working closely with her to bring new vitality and fresh developments in bilateral relations.

"The Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of Honduras share a commitment to universal values such as democracy, freedom, and human rights," the president said, noting that she and Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández have developed a deep friendship through reciprocal state visits, and by strengthening cooperation.

"Over the past three years or so, our countries have seen many cooperative achievements in public health, agriculture, education, science, and technology," Tsai said.

In terms of tourism, the president went on to add that the government organized a delegation comprised of local tour operators to visit Honduras this year, with the hope that this helps to promote its culture and customs to Taiwanese, as well boost visits to the country.

"In the future, we will actively invite Honduran companies to attend trade shows and exhibitions in Taiwan," she said, adding that the government will also continue to encourage Taiwanese companies to invest in Honduras to create mutually beneficial developments.
