Taipei, March 1 (CNA) Taiwan remains committed to regional stability, President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) said Friday in reaction to the collapse of a high-stakes summit in Hanoi between American President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

In a Facebook post, Tsai said Taiwan will continue to work with the international community and commit to regional stability and peace through enhanced communication and dialogue with countries in the region.

The White House acknowledged in a statement on Thursday the failure to reach an agreement during the two-day summit.

"The two leaders discussed various ways to advance denuclearization and economic driven concepts," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in the statement.

"No agreement was reached at this time, but their respective teams look forward to meeting in the future."

At a time when several international leaders have expressed concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, meanwhile, Tsai advised Taiwanese to avoid traveling to the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir.

In case of emergency, Taiwanese nationals may request the help of Taiwan's representative office in India, Tsai said.

Renewed tensions between the two nuclear-armed South Asian neighbors were triggered by a suicide car bombing by Pakistan-based militants that killed at least 40 Indian paramilitary personnel in Kashmir on Feb. 14.

India responded by launching air strikes against Pakistan, and the two sides exchanged fire in dozens of locations.
