Taipei, Aug. 1 (CNA) The number of casualties in a series of gas explosions in Kaohsiung climbed to 292 Friday as emergency workers continued to search the area devastated by the blasts.

As of noon, 25 people were confirmed to have died in the worst accident of its kind in Taiwan's history, and 267 others were reported injured.
