Eric Chu (朱立倫), the presidential candidate of the ruling Kuomintang (KMT), said Sunday that when the Democratic Progressive Party was in power 2000-2008, cross-Taiwan Strait relations suffered a setback, and that DPP Chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) was the country's mainland affairs chief and deputy premier at the time.
