Tax revenues rise in first half of year

Taipei, July 10 (CNA) The government's total tax revenues in the first half of the year reached NT$1.454 trillion (US48.6 billion), representing a year-on-year increase of NT$48 billion, or 4.8 percent, compared with the same period of last year, the Ministry of Finance reported Tuesday.

However, during the same period, revenue from the securities transaction tax and land value increment tax decreased by a combined total of NT$12.8 billion, according to statistics compiled by the ministry.

The country's net actual tax collection for June stood at NT$342.2 billion, up by NT$28 billion, or an increase of 8.9 percent from the year-earlier figure, the ministry said.

During the same month, individual income tax revenue rose by NT$33.2 billion, while inheritance tax income increased by NT$3.4 billion, the statistics show.

Revenue from the corporate income tax and commodity tax were down by NT$7.8 billion and NT$2.9 billion, respectively, from June last year, according to the statistics.
