Taipei, June 27 (CNA) A retail business unit of the Hon Hai Group, the world's largest contract electronics maker, honored on Wednesday the winners of a competition to design the interior of an IT center that is currently under construction.
Yen Wen-hung, head of Hon Hai's channel business group, said SynTrend Creative Co., the retail unit that will operate Cyber Plaza, launched an interior design contest in April for its Cyber Plaza, and 150 designs were submitted by college students.
The center, originally called the Taipei International IT Fashion Center, is currently being built by Hon Hai through a build-operate-transfer partnership with the city government.
Winners of the top three prizes won NT$150,000 (US$5,013), NT$80,000 and NT$50,000, respectively, in cash, Yen said, adding that the winning designs will be displayed at the center when it is completed.
The competition was the first in a series of incubator programs to be promoted by the Hon Hai Group, which will also continue to focus on the scientific education of children, according to Chang Jui-lin, chairman of CyberMart, another Hon Hai retail arm.
