Taipei, June 4 (CNA) An alliance formed to advance made-in-Taiwan (MIT) unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) is currently attending a three-day drone expo in Japan, according to the association on Thursday.
According to the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA), its members are currently attending Japan Drone at Chiba City's Makuhari Messe convention center, an expo organized by the Japan UAS Industry Development Association (JUIDA), which runs from Wednesday to Friday.
The expo serves as an important platform for the nation to promote MIT drone products, as it is being attended by over 230 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) companies from around the world.
In addition to featuring Taiwan UAVs, TEDIBOA noted that the show also seeks to further advance the drone partnership between Taiwan and Japan.
TEDIBOA explained that Taiwan and Japan's drone industries are highly complementary. While Japan possesses excellence in precision machinery and automatic control systems, Taiwan has a strong foundation in chip manufacturing, cybersecurity and system integration.
According to the alliance, drone exchanges between Taiwan and Japan started last year, when TEDIBOA formed partnerships with organizations such as JUIDA and the Japan Drone Consortium. This allowed members to learn from Japan's expertise in developing UAVs for disaster, rescue, agriculture and logistics.
TEDIBOA was launched by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2024, with the intention of advancing international business opportunities for Taiwan's drone industry.
TEDIBOA members at the Japan trade show include around 20 UAV companies led by Aerospace Industrial Development Corp., Thunder Tiger Corp. and Coretronic Intelligent Robotics Corp.
In the first half of 2026, TEDIBOA also took its members to seek out business opportunities in Germany and the United States, the alliance said.
