Taipei, Feb. 7 (CNA) Taiwanese golfer Yani Tseng's world rankingsurged to No. 2 Monday, a day after she snatched her second title ofthe year in the Women's Australian Open, according to the latest LPGAstatistics.
The 22-year-old saw her world ranking jump from fifth to second,just behind South Korea's Jiyai Shin, with an average of 9.80, thestatistics show.
The LPGA Tour's player of the year in 2010 won the Australiantournament on Sunday with a 16-under-par, seven shots ahead ofrunner-up Shin, who nevertheless remained the world's No. 1 femaleprofessional golfer with an average of 10.17.
Cristie Kerr of the United States now ranks No. 3, followed byNorwegian Suzann Pettersen.
Tseng could overtake Shin to claim the top spot if she maintainsher form in the Honda LPGA Thailand scheduled to begin Feb. 17, giventhe narrow margin between her and Shin.
