Taipei Zoo reopens after 10-day closure, celebrates panda birthday

Taipei Zoo, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Taiwan’s capital, celebrated the fifth birthday of its star giant panda Yuan Bao on Saturday, the same day the zoo reopened after a 10-day closure for annual maintenance. After zookeepers placed a special ice cake stacked with bamboo, carrots, and fresh fruit inside the enclosure, the Taiwan-born female panda wasted no time digging in for a refreshing treat on a hot day, as fans snapped photos and enjoyed watching her eat.
