Taipei, Sept. 16 (CNA) The final span of the Danjiang Bridge in New Taipei was installed on Tuesday. When completed, it will be the world's longest asymmetric single-mast bridge. Construction began seven years ago.

The 920-meter Danjiang Bridge will link Tamsui and Bali districts, easing traffic on the Guandu Bridge and shortening travel times to Taoyuan International Airport and downtown Taipei.

The bridge was designed by late British architect Zaha Hadid, who drew inspiration from Taiwan's Cloud Gate Dance Theatre dancers.

Preparations for the installation also attracted members of the public.

The opening ceremony for the bridge is scheduled on May 9, 2026 and will open to the public access on May 12.
