
Taichung, Feb. 13 (CNA) One person died and 10 others were injured in a suspected gas explosion at a Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store in Taichung, central Taiwan, local fire officials said Thursday.
Update 2: 4 dead, 20 injured in Taichung mall blast
Four people apparently were blown out of the windows on the 12th floor of the department store in the city's Xitun District, the Taichung Fire Bureau said, citing eyewitnesses.


The bureau said it received a report of the blast at 11:33 a.m. and immediately dispatched firefighters and ambulances to the scene.
As of press time, rescue efforts were still ongoing and the cause of the explosion had not been confirmed.
