Rice ball purchases win NT$10 million on uniform invoice lottery
Taipei, Dec. 3 (CNA) Two consumers who bought rice balls at separate convenience stores in Taipei were among the seven lucky winners of the NT$10 million (US$ 325,044) jackpot in the September-October uniform invoice lottery, according to the list of winners released by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) Tuesday.
One of the two winners of the NT$10 million special prize bought a tuna-flavored rice ball for NT$27 from a FamilyMart convenience store in Shilin District, while another winner spent NT$43 on a pork floss rice ball and a cold drink at a 7-11 convenience store in Wanhua District, the ministry said.
The exact dates of the purchases were not indicated on the MOF list.
The record low number of seven winners will each take home NT$10 million, the MOF announced, adding that another 18 people won the NT$2 million grand prize.
Of the 18 winners of the NT$2 million prize, 11 spent less than NT$100, the MOF added.
The winning number for the NT$10 million jackpot for September-October is 41482012 while that for the NT$2 million grand prize is 58837976. Winnings can be claimed from Dec. 6 to March 5, 2020, the ministry said.
The uniform invoice lottery system, which draws winning numbers every two months, was created to encourage consumers to collect sales invoices as part of the ministry's efforts to prevent tax evasion by business establishments.
