Taipei, May 31 (CNA) Several Taiwanese airlines announced flight changes over the weekend for routes between Taiwan and Okinawa on Sunday and Monday, due to Typhoon Jangmi approaching the Ryukyu Islands.
EVA Air announced that their BR186/185 flight between Taoyuan and Naha, Okinawa on Sunday will depart one hour early, and that their flights BR112/113 and BR186/185 of the same route on Monday will be cancelled.
Meanwhile, Tigerair Taiwan announced early departures for flights IT-232/233 between Taoyuan and Naha, IT-796/797 between Tainan and Naha, and IT-288/289 between Kaohsiung and Naha on Sunday.
For Monday flights, IT-230/231/232/233 between Taoyuan and Naha, IT-792 between Taichung and Naha, and IT-288/289/729 between Kaohsiung and Naha will be cancelled, the airline said.
China Airlines announced that flights CI122/123 between Taoyuan and Naha, and CI132/133 between Kaohsiung and Naha will depart early on Sunday.
For Monday flights, CI120/121/122/123 between Taoyuan and Naha, and CI132/133 between Kaohsiung and Naha, have been cancelled, according to the airline.
On Tuesday, the airline will deploy larger aircraft on flights CI122/123 between Taoyuan and Naha than originally planned, it said.
On Saturday night, Starlux Airlines announced that it will cancel the JX312/313 flights between Taichung and Naha on Sunday, but add flight JX1871 from Naha to Taoyuan that afternoon at 2 p.m.
For flights on Monday, JX870/871 between Taoyuan and Naha, and JX302/303/312/313 between Taichung and Naha will be cancelled.
For Tuesday flights, JX870/871 between Taoyuan and Naha, JX302/303 between Taichung and Naha, JX890/891 between Taoyuan and Shimoji Island, an island among Okinawa's Miyako Islands, as well as JX308/309 between Taichung and Shimoji Island will all be delayed, according to the airline.
The airlines reminded travelers to stay updated on the latest flight information on their official websites.
Typhoon Jangmi is located at about 580 kilometers from Naha, Okinawa as of 8 a.m., moving in a northwest-north direction, according to the Central Weather Administration. The agency said its outer ring would bring rain to Taiwan, but would not have direct impact on the country.
