Taipei, Oct. 9 (CNA) President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will deliver a National Day address on Friday outlining his vision and blueprint for national governance as Taiwan faces domestic and international challenges, sources said Thursday.
In the speech, Lai will focus on the theme "The power to move forward: six key strengths," which encompass democracy, innovation and economic development, social care capacity, diplomacy, defense resilience, and civic virtue, according to sources from the Presidential Office.
Lai's speech is expected to be consistent with his inaugural and other major addresses, which emphasized key elements aimed at securing Taiwan's critical position in the global economy while responsibly maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait amid complex geopolitics.
Lai will make the address at a ceremony in front of the Presidential Office Friday morning, marking the 114th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan's official name).
