Taipei, Oct. 8 (CNA) Presidential Adviser and Taiwania Capital Chairman Lin Hsin-i (林信義) has been appointed by President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) as Taiwan's envoy to the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Gyeongju, South Korea, the Presidential Office announced Wednesday.
The summit will be held from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1.
The Presidential Office said Lin's deep familiarity with APEC operations and related policy discussions makes him the most suitable choice to represent Taiwan at this year's meeting.
Lin previously served as Taiwan's envoy to APEC in 2005 and 2024. His extensive background in both industry and government gives him a comprehensive understanding of Taiwan's industrial development and global economic trends, the office said in a press release.
This year's APEC agenda will focus on artificial intelligence and demographic challenges, which align with Lai's vision of transforming Taiwan into an "AI island" and advancing his "Healthy Taiwan" initiative.
These initiatives include investments in AI chips, smart manufacturing, digital governance and healthcare innovation, the office added.
