Taipei, Sept. 2 (CNA) Germán Bejarano García, Spain's former ambassador to Malaysia and Brunei, has taken up his post as Madrid's new representative to Taiwan, according to the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan.
"I am fully committed to promoting stronger ties and cooperation between Taiwan and Spain across various sectors, including trade, culture and tourism," Bejarano said in a social media post on Tuesday.
Bejarano assumed office Monday, replacing former envoy Eduardo Euba Aldape. He will hold the official title of director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan, which represents Spain's interests in the absence of formal diplomatic relations.
Bejarano said in the post he has extensive experience in public organizations dealing with trade and economic affairs.
